1. How many continuing education credits do I need?

Reporters in the State of Oklahoma are required to obtain four (4) hours of continuing education per year. Official reporters must include one (1) hour of Oklahoma Court Rules and Procedures as part of the four hours.

The continuing education compliance report should be filed with the Administrative Office of the Courts on or before February 15th of each year.

2. When and where is the next seminar?

You can find information on OCRA sponsored seminars under the Calendar and/or Store sections of our website. Traditionally, OCRA sponsors two seminars a year which are held in Tulsa during February and Oklahoma City during July.

3. How do I get information about the CSR test?

You need to contact the Administrative Office of the Courts for testing information at 405-521-2450.

4. What are the test requirements for the Oklahoma CSR?

A two-voice question and answer dictation of testimony at 200 words per minute for five minutes. A five-minute dictation of literary material at 180 words per minute. One hour will be given for the transcription of the question and answer dictation, and one hour will be given for the transcription of the literary dictation. Applicants must attain 95 percent accuracy.

Proof of passing the Registered Professional Reporter Examination of the national Court Reporters Association or an equivalent test as authorized by the Supreme Court may be substituted for the above-mentioned portions of the examination.

A written knowledge test of not less than 25 questions relating to Oklahoma law and court rules. This section of the examination will be administered in forty-five minutes. Applicants must attain a passing score of 70 percent or better.

5. Does Oklahoma recognize other state certifications?

Any questions concerning reciprocity should be directed to the CSR Board.

6. I have already paid my OCRA dues, now I received a bill from the Administrative Office of the Courts. What is this for?

The Oklahoma Court Reporters Association is an organization that you join voluntarily. Those dues are renewable every January 1st.

The money paid to the Administrative Office of the Courts is a biennial renewal fee for your CSR license.

7. Can I register online for seminars?

Yes. Online seminar registration and payment of OCRA dues are available under the Store section of the website.
